The Shark Shield MARINER is a diverse unit that can be used for many different applications. The unit is usually attached to a boat using the Velcro pouch or D rings, with the antenna hung down into the water. It provides the largest protection zone of all the Shark Shield units.

It gives you a shark safe zone of around 15 meters around your boat or other structure that the has the unit attached to it. This allows you to partake in activities such as swimming, fishing, snorkelling and diving around your water craft. It is often used by divers to create a “Safe Zone” during decompression stops, by fisherman to protect their catch while reeling the fish back to the boat or for keeping catches alive by the side of the boat. It can also be deployed on hookah lines for Abalone Divers or other Commercial Divers. MARINER units have been tethered to jetties and watercraft, used with your bouyancy vests or life rafts, used for protection of surfing or surf lifesaving events, and by boat charter operators. It gives you a shark safe area for play or work.

The MARINER unit has been widely used in aquaculture to protect catches from hungry sharks. Prawn trawlers have claimed that use of Shark Shield MARINER resulted in increased catch.

The unique wave form elliptical field only affects free swimming sharks and to a minor degree rays and skates. It has no effect on other marine creatures. The field generated by the Shark Shield is detected by the shark through its sensory receptors known as Ampullae of Lorenzini, situated on the snout of all predatory sharks. The unique and unfamiliar pulsing sensation emitted by the Shark Shield does not replicate that given off by a fish and does not attract sharks. This allows you to hunt, photograph or just swim with all other marine animals roaming freely in their ocean settings.

Description of Unit:
The main body of the unit, comprising the electronics module and a 4 hour rechargeable battery pack, is enclosed in a protective neoprene pouch. Sewn to the back of the pouch is a strip of heavy duty webbing. On either end of the webbing are two D rings.

Attached to the main body of the unit is a 3.75M flexible tubular antenna, which contains two stainless steel braid electrodes. It is these electrodes that emit the protective field.

The two electrodes are 475mm long stainless steel tubes. The distance between the two inside edges of the electrodes is 2M.

Supplies 12V to power module. Battery pack is fitted with a one way O Ring sealed gas relief valve and thermal overload protection. Battery connectors are gold plated phosphor bronze O Ring sealed, where the metal passes through the end cap.
